The ACAD is a non-profit independent professional organization of dentists and laboratory technicians. It was founded in 1984 and maintains an active membership of about 100 and has about 600 dentists on its mailing lists who are qualified to attend meetings. The ACAD is made of two components. One is limited to a group of previous study group graduates who are dentists and the other is a group of technicians who are teachers for the laboratory technicians taking the courses with the dentists. All dentists and technicians have had similar training. The minimum is one year of active study group learning. 98% have 2 years of hands on training. Many members have over 4 years of study group training and some have over 10 years of training.
